Lots of people struggle with the question are air-conditioners bad for the environment. The first thing we all seem to know is that air-conditioners are very electric-energy demanding devices. This unless the air-conditioners are solar-powered, not much solar-powered air-conditioners in Thailand, the electricity used when you switch your air-conditioner on is likely produced by a carbon-emitting electrical power plant.
Instead of using the air-conditioner, you should try to create more shade during the day by shutting blinds, opening windows at night, and using ventilators.
If you need the air-conditioner on, don't set the temperature any lower than 26c degree. Which should be comfortable – of course you can try other temperatures, for instance 28c to 30c degree can still feel cool with the help of an additional stand-ventilator. Not forget ever 1 degree temperature down means the system will work harder and waste more energy.
