Eat Healthy and Fight Obesity

Food & DrinkWhether it's your mother and her cookies and cake or your boss and those weekly business lunches over steaming platters of all delicious - it's true, the universe is conspiring to make you fat. And your friends, family, and co-worker are its evil henchmen – doing the dirty work and leading you into the valley of temptation. Don't fall into their trap. With a little planning and forethought, yu can avoid even the most strategic and damaging fat attack.

Your Mother

Yes, she brought you into this world. And that's the problem – Mom still thinks you're a growing girl who needs to eat. Win the fight: It isn't that Mom wants to make you fat. She just equates food with love. And the more of that 'special' that calories enriched fatty food you scarf down, the more loved she feels. Instead of refusing to eat what she cooks, make it harder for her to shower you with calories. Meet up with her at the park for a walk, take her to the movies, or – if you can sand it – take her to the mall.

Your Girlfriends

It finally dawned on you: The size of your thighs is directly related to the amount you drink. But how do you get lean when your social life revolves around a few drinks here and there? Win the fight: Stick to light beers or drink made with alcohol and club soda or diet cola. Order your drink when you first arrive, so you immediately have a drink in hand. That makes it less obvious you're watching the amount you drink. Volunteer to get the second or third round – so nobody sees you aren't ordering for yourself. By the time round four rolls around and you switch to water, everybody else will be too tipsy to care.

Your Boyfriend

Most guys think the path to a relation has to include a few stops at romantic restaurant along the way. And they're right. But as every girl knows, all those menus filled with delicious food, especially the desserts, are hard to pass up – especially when he's paying.... Win the fight: While you may be doomed to a few high-calorie meals – go ahead, enjoy them! - as soon as you feel comfortable doing it, volunteer to cook instead of going out all te time. That was, as the chef, you'll have final say over not only what you're eating, but how much ends up on your plate.

Your Boss

IF he isn't starving you at your desk to make sure you meet impossible deadlines, changes are the Big Cheese is packing your belly with cheese and hamburgers, now-an-than doughnuts, and pizzas whenever the team works late. Hell, with that vat of candy on his desk, even his office isn't safe. Win the fight: Pack your desk with energy bars, protein powder, nuts, instant noodles, or jerky. If you eat small, frequent meals and stay full throughout the day, you'll be less likely to pig out whenever the free food arrives.
