Tools of the trade before starting your facial, make sure you have at hand items similar to the ones list here; Johnson's Pure Cotton Rounds (make-up pads), face washer, bath towel, bathrobe, a big heatproof bowl, which can be filled with hot water, so you can steam your face.1. Cleanse your face with a creamy cleaning lotion, such as L'Oreal Paris Visible Results Cleansing Milk, Olay Cleansing Lotion or Dove Deep Moisture Creamy Facial Cleanser for Extra Dry to Normal Skin. Apply cleanser in upward, circular movements over the face, eyelids and neck. Remove cleanser with make-up remover pads, such as Johnson's Pure Cotton Rounds, ensuring that all traces of make-up are wiped away. Pay special attention to the delicate eye area, where stubborn mascara, particularly waterproof varieties, can sometimes be hard to remove. Always resist the temptation to rub too vigorously on the eye area, as this can cause irritation. Rinse face with warm water and remove excess moisture with a hand towel.
2. Exfoliate apply an exfoliator, such as Almay Gentle Exfoliator for All Skin Types or Avon Anew Clinical Micro-Exfoliant, to moistened facial skin, avoiding the eye area. Massage into the skin with firm, circular movements, until the skin feels slightly warmed. A scrub sloughs off dead skin cells, which, over time, can build up on skin, making it look lackluster. Wipe off with make-up remover pads and rinse face thoroughly. Pat dry.
3. Tone moisten make-up remover pads with a toner, such as Nivea Visage Gentle Refreshing Toner or L'Oreal Paris Ideal Balance Invigorating Toner. Stroke gently over face to remove traces of exfoliator, but also to refresh and rebalance your skin.
4. Steam fill a bowl with hot water. Position your face above the bowl and cover your head with a bath towel to create a "steam tent". For a soothing, aromatic experience, you can pop in a herbal tea bag. Breathe deeply and steam your face for about five to 10 minutes.
5. Pat face dry and then apply your specially selected mask generously, over your face. Avoid the eye area and, if desired, take the mask down over your neck and decolletage. Relax in a chair or even lie down for 10 to 15 minutes.6. Remove mask thoroughly, firstly with make-up remover pads and then with a dampened face washer.
7. Apply toner, such as Nivea Visage Refreshing Toner or L'Oreal Paris Ideal Balance Invigorating Toner to make-up remover pads. Sweep gently over the face. Apply a moisturizer, such as Simple Regenerating Defending Day Moisturizer to face and neck. Pat some eye cream, such as Olay Total Effects + Anti-Aging Eye Cream onto the eye contour.
