Whether it's lips, eyes or cheeks, the colors of the season are plush and ultra-luxurious. It's almost the season for snuggling up under a warm blanked, indulging in hot showers and – this is our favorite part of the end of the year season – luxurious, rich, plush shades of purple, berry and gold in our make-up cases. While Thai embrace the carefree, barely there make-up look in the warmer months, come December it's all about color, and the richer the better. Give your make-up a December twist with some of your favorite colors of the season.
For the eyes, it's all about purple when it comes to eyeshadow this season, so stock up on shades from lavender to violet. If you've shied away from heavily pigmented eye color in the past, this is your year because sheer applications will be as popular as opaque. Start by shading your entire eyelid, just beyond your eye crease, with a gold or bronze eyeshadow.
Blend well to ensure there's no obvious line. Then take your purple shadow and shade along your lash line, keeping the line as thin as possible so you can thicken it later if necessary. If you like, you can deepen the shade along your lash line and add color to the edge of your eye crease. And for you cheeks, the key is to nailing December-perfect, flushed pink cheeks that look as though you've just stepped in from the cold is to use a cool pink-based blush. Cream or powder blushes work equally well in achieving this look.
The lips, where you choose a gloss or more traditional lipstick, make sure your lips are tip top condition by regularly using a lip balm. Go for rich, creamy formulas when it comes to lipstick to keep dry lips nourished and well hydrated in the December season.
If you prefer a glossy finish, look for thicker formulas. But remember gloss can be very unforgiving on chapped lips, so stay clear of it until your lips are smooth again.
You eye lashes. If you're still not very confident wearing colored eyeshadow, try a tinted mascara to update your look.
