A drunken night at a club led me to hook up with a random guy. When I surfaced sober the next day, I reaslised we hadn't used protection, but I was too embarrassed to tell my gynaecologist that. Telling your doctor about who you knocked boots with last week might seem like a totally bizarre idea, but being upfront about your sex life (especially if it's a little murky), may save your life.
Disclosing whether or not you've had unprotected sex is the first step in determining your risk for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) that include HIV and AIDS. And it's step your must take immediately after you have sans-condom sex with someone.
Since many STDs don't have nay symptoms in their early stages, waiting for the signs to show up before sounding your gynae might mean the infection has advanced.
Remember that untreated STDs never disappear and can prevent your chances of ever having children if they are not promptly treated.
